6 Orphans Saved, Locals Pleased With the Efforts of KISS Foundation

The Chhanchunia Village in Pallahara Block is not one of the most developed places, and people are often attacked by common third-world diseases like malaria and dengue. Recently, for similar causes, there have been quite a few death cases in this Kunjam panchayat ruled village. One such family was that of Amulya Champia. 

            

This daily wage earner very recently passed away from certain health ailments, leaving their family of 7 to his wife, Subini. The 7 daughters and mother were somehow taking on each day as a challenge, with the bare minimum to eat and wear. However, they managed to wed the eldest of the sisters but were left with the rest. 

Only 3 months after the death of Amulya Champia, Subina also fell prey to the deadly disease of malaria. This led to the 6 sisters being left alone in the world, struggling to even get through one day. Out of the 6 sisters and brothers, Rashmita is the eldest and has taken on over her mother. The whole responsibility of her sibling's, food and shelter are on her. 

She has resorted to odd jobs like maintaining and taking care of the pets of the villagers to earn some money. After this devastating news was showcased in the media, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the founder of KISS and KIIT and also Kandhamal MP, showed keen interest in the situation and immediately made efforts to help the orphans in any way possible. For starters, he understood that the family was struggling to a basic daily wage, so he provided them with 10,000 RS. However, this was not a one-time thing, and Dr Samanta announced that the orphans would receive Rs 10,000 every month from the KISS Foundation.

Along with that, the kids were also promised free education at KISS. Even though the institution is closed for the COVID pandemic, upon reopening, the necessary steps will be taken. The locals are highly pleased with this helpful gesture and are very grateful, to say the least. Rashmita and her siblings also show a similar sentiment.
