KIMS Doctor Bags Best Faculty Award

The Best Faculty Award at the International Scientist Awards on Engineering, Science and Medicine went to Dr. C. Mohan Rao, Dept. of Pulmonary Medicines, KIMS. VD GOOD Professional Association organized the program.


Dr. Rao, a pass-out from the MKCG Medical College and Hospital MBBS in 1978 and a pass out from the SCB Medical College and Hospital MD in 1989, has been right at the forefront of promoting medical education while being long associated with I.G.H. Rourkela. He has created and carefully nurtured a complete galaxy of pulmonary physicians in DNB at I.G.H. Rourkela. He served as the anchor in Rourkela Steel television Health File programme for dissemination of medical knowledge among doctors while serving as the former President of IMA Rourkela in 2013-14 and Life Member of API, Rourkela. In the year 1998, he addressed the federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Direct Observed Short Course Chemotherapy at New Delhi as part of a delegation.

Dr. Rao has also gone through highly advanced training in the year 2013 on Intervention Pulmonology in CNC Vellore. He is the name behind bringing Clinical Application of Medical Thoracoscope in the state of Odisha in 2013. Besides these accomplishments, Dr., Rao has also gone through leadership training in Management Training Institute at Ranchi.

Post superannuation in the year 2015, Dr. Rao joined as Associate Professor in Hi-Tech Medical College Hospital Rourkela. Subsequently, the large scale academic ambience at KIMS, Bhubaneswar attracted him and he joined the institute in February, 2017. Since then, there’s no looking back for him. Till date, he has published around 15 papers in varied journals. Most notable papers among them all are the ones in the British Journal of Nutrition; and on Covid in Critical Care topic in the Journal of Association of Physicians of India in the year 2021. This was in coalition with the Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubaneswar. Dr. Rao, an ardent and honest promoter of medical understanding and knowledge dissemination, has been the greatest reviewers of the Journal of Pharmaceutical Research.
