6 From Odisha in the National Rugby Team

The Asia Rugby Under-20 (Boys & Girls) Rugby Tournament is going to be held in Uzbekistan on 5th & 6th November, 2022. A selection trial cum coaching camp for the same was conducted by Rugby India in collaboration with Sports & Youth Services Department, Govt. of Odisha & KIIT – Deemed to be University from 01st October 2022 at KIIT University premises.


The final team declaration & kit distribution ceremony was held today in presence of Shri. Rahul Bose, President Rugby India, Prof. Achyuta Samanta, Founder KIIT & KISS and Hon’ble Member of Parliament Kandhamal, Shri. Sailendra Kumar Jena, OAS (S), Jt. Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department, Govt. of Odisha, Mr. Priyadarshi Mishra, President Odisha Rugby Football Association, Mr. Upendra Mohanty, Secretary, Odisha Rugby Football Association, Dr. Gaganendu Dash, Director General Sports, KIIT & KISS and officials from Rugby India. A total of 6 players (5 girls & 1 boy) from Odisha have been selected in the Indian Team which includes Mama Naik (Captain), Tarulata Naik, Nirmalya Rout & Ganesh Dhangada Majhi from KISS, Odisha.

Shri. Rahul Bose thanked Prof. Achyuta Samanta for providing excellent facilities to the players & officials for the coaching camp and Sports & Youth Services Department for their continuous support. Prof. Samanta congratulated all the players & conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming tournament.
