KIIT International MUN Concludes

KIIT International MUN or Model United Nations’ 11th Edition concluded today at the KIIT University. The event, which witnessed 1,300+ delegates from across India and the world, is the largest MUN in Asia with “Engage to Empower” as its main theme. The specific theme for the event aims to promote discourse and deliberation among the youth to further facilitate growth and empowerment, thus paving the way to a beautiful future.


Inaugurated on 6th October, the event had Mr. Yawa Edem Akpemado, Charge d’ Affairs Embassy of Togo in New Delhi as its Guest of Honour and the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Internships, Ministry of Higher Education and Research, Togo, Mr. Komla A. Jervis Zogbema as its Chief Guest.

While addressing the attendees in French, Zogbema said “In the post-colonial era African nations  are in a  transition towards economic upliftment and education as a major sector has a lot to contribute.” During his speech, Zogbema went on to praise India’s exemplary role in the G20 leadership and also called for an overhaul in the UN structure owing to its ideation during the post-World War-II era. Further, the chief guest showed his interest in collaborating with India closely to excel in the field of human development.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, the Founder of KIIT-KISS, further restated that the biggest of all MUNs in the Asian sub-continent is currently being conducted at the beautiful campus and has brought the theme “Engage to Empower” into action as in KISS or the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences. Further, he was hopeful of the entire MUN assembly handling all the major world issues and working on their solutions.

With a total of 35 EB or Executive Board members and even International EBs from Bangladesh and Indonesia, the KIIT-MUN has been a major success. It even had international student delegates participating from Somalia, Nigeria, Syria, Bangladesh, Togo, Ethiopia etc. Ever since its launch in 2013, the KIIT-MUN has witnessed huge growth and has served as the perfect platform for future leaders and diplomats aspiring to make a difference by discussing matters, like hunger, poverty, food security, refugee crisis and climate change across the world.

Other major attendees at the KIIT-MUN included the Vice Chancellor of KIIT-DU, Prof Saranjit Singh, Debraj Pradhan, Director General International Relations, Prof Jnyana Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar and Dr. Shyam Sundar Behura, Additional Registrar.  Kshitij Singh was the secretary General of KIIT International MUN, 2023.
